TRAVELLING TO ZANZIBAR? HERE ARE A FEW PRE-TRAVEL HINTS AND TIPS!
VISAS
Visas are available for purchase at the airport, upon arrival. Cost: 50 USD/person.
HEALTH & SAFETY
We would like to bring to your kind attention that Kiwengwa, very often, has quite a windy environment, with a few mosquitoes, due to which we would advocate that our guests take caution and carry anti-mosquito sprays.
We would also advice you to wear footwear when going into the sea as pointy corals could be present in some areas.
TIDES
Kiwengwa, which lies on the East Coast of Zanzibar, witnesses a strong tidal range. The high and low tides alternate every 6 hours and vary by 45 minutes from one day to the next. Low tide allows you to take long walks along the beach in ankle-deep water and enjoy the gorgeous views of the turquoise ocean. The sea is at mid-tide most of the day and this makes for an ideal environment for a swim in crystal clear water.
PAYMENTS
Moja Tuu accepts all major payment methods (VISA, MasterCard, Cash). There is a fee of 4% on credit cards. We do not accept checks and Paypal.
The closest ATM is in Stone Town (approximately a one hour drive) but most businesses accept credit card payments (5% fee usually applies).
Currencies usually accepted are USD, EUR, and TZS. Please note that bank notes older than 2010 are not accepted on the island.
